Homeschooling in Spain — the Spanish question

Whether you're homeschooling in Spain, travelling as a worldschooling family, or educating your children internationally, Spanish as a structured subject is often the hardest piece to get right. Finding someone who can teach children effectively — with proper progression, age-appropriate methods, and real curriculum compatibility — takes more than a language app or a casual tutor. Hiring a qualified native teacher solves it.

Why it works

Spanish as a proper subject in your homeschool

Not an afterthought. Not just conversation practice. A real, structured approach that fits the way your family learns.

A Real Curriculum, Not Just Conversation

Lessons are structured around clear learning objectives and progression — so Spanish is a proper subject in your homeschool, with measurable progress your children can feel and you can track.

Adapted to Every Age and Level

Whether it's a 6-year-old at zero, a teenager needing exam-level support, or an adult parent wanting to keep up — each lesson is individually tailored. Same teacher, completely different programmes.

Flexibility That Matches Your School Day

You control the timetable. Morning, afternoon, weekdays, weekends. Lessons fit around your homeschool schedule — not the other way around. Reschedule any time with notice.

How it works

Getting started is simple

1

Tell Me About Your Family

Ages, levels, how Spanish fits into your homeschool goals. The first trial lesson covers the whole picture — no forms, just a real conversation.

2

A Tailored Plan Per Learner

Each child and adult gets their own programme — same teacher, separate sessions calibrated to individual levels and pace.

3

Consistent Weekly Progress

Regular sessions, trackable goals, and a teacher who keeps parents informed after every lesson. Spanish, sorted.

Family stories

What homeschooling families say

"We have three children at completely different levels. The sessions are individually tailored and our teacher genuinely cares about each of them. We couldn't be happier."
The Morrison Family · British homeschoolers, Marbella
"Spanish has always been the weak point in our homeschool. Rise Language Lab turned it into our children's favourite subject."
Anna K. · German expat family, Valencia
"What I love is that I get a brief update after each lesson — I always know how my daughter is progressing. It feels like a real school but personal."
Laura F. · Homeschooling family, Mallorca
What to expect

Spanish as a subject — what progress looks like

Every child progresses differently — but with consistent weekly sessions, here's a realistic picture of what families typically see.

Months 1–2

First words, first confidence

Basic communication, pronunciation foundation, first vocabulary sets. Children start to associate sounds with meaning and feel safe using Spanish out loud.

Months 3–6

Sentences, conversations, reading

Sentence building starts to click. Daily conversations become possible. Simple texts can be read and understood. Parents notice the shift from repetition to real usage.

6 Months +

Grammar, fluency, opinions

Grammar structure becomes intuitive. Conversations flow more naturally. Learners begin to express opinions, describe experiences, and engage with Spanish beyond the classroom.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Can you teach children and adults in the same family at different levels?
Yes — this is one of the most common family setups. Each person in the family has their own individual session with completely separate content, pace, and objectives. The same teacher teaches all of them, which means consistency in approach, a single point of contact for parents, and someone who understands the whole family's Spanish journey.
Do lessons follow a specific curriculum or exam board?
Lessons are structured around CEFR levels (A1–C2) and can be aligned with common homeschooling frameworks. If you're working toward a specific Spanish qualification or exam (DELE, GCSE-equivalent, etc.), we can tailor the programme accordingly. If you just need solid, structured progression without a specific exam in mind, we build a custom learning route instead.
How often should homeschooled children take Spanish lessons?
One session per week is the minimum for consistent progress — enough to build momentum without overwhelming your school day. Two sessions per week is ideal for faster progression, especially for children in a Spanish-speaking environment. We can discuss what's realistic for your family during the free trial.
Is online Spanish learning effective for young children?
Absolutely, when the session is designed correctly. Young learners (5–10) respond well to short, engaging sessions built around visual aids, games, stories, and interactive activities rather than formal instruction. Online sessions for young children are typically 30–40 minutes — focused, fun, and packed with input. The key is the teacher's approach, not the screen.
Can you provide documentation of progress for educational authorities?
Yes. If you need written progress reports, level assessments, or documentation for your homeschool portfolio or educational authority, this can be arranged. Get in touch to discuss your specific requirements and we'll make sure the right records are kept from the start.
What if we travel or pause — can lessons be rescheduled easily?
Yes — flexibility is built into the whole model. Worldschooling and travelling families are common. Lessons can be rescheduled with 24 hours' notice. If you're taking a few weeks off for travel or a family break, just let me know and we pick up exactly where we left off. There's no pressure to maintain a rigid fixed slot.
