Why It Matters

Who takes the DELE — and why it matters

The DELE is an official qualification issued by the Instituto Cervantes. Whether you need it for citizenship, university, work, or your own record, understanding what is at stake changes how you prepare.

Spanish Citizenship

DELE A2 is mandatory for most non-native speakers applying for Spanish nationality. No exceptions.

University Admission

Many Spanish universities and international programmes require DELE B2 or C1 for admission.

Career Advancement

Spanish proficiency on your CV opens roles in international companies, particularly with Latin American or Spanish markets.

Personal Achievement

The DELE is a globally recognised official certificate issued by the Instituto Cervantes. It validates years of effort.

All Levels

Which level do you need?

Each DELE level has a specific exam format, pass criteria, and use case. Private preparation is structured around the exact level you are targeting.

Why Rise Language Lab

What makes private DELE prep different

01

A Native Teacher Who Knows the Exam

Lessons are structured around the actual DELE exam format — reading, writing, listening, and oral interaction. No time wasted on content that will not appear.

02

Private, Not Generic

Group DELE courses teach to the average. Your lessons focus on exactly what you need to pass — your weak points, your level, your exam date.

03

Authentic Castilian Spanish

The DELE exam uses Peninsular Spanish. Preparing with a native Spanish teacher from Spain means your accent, vocabulary, and natural expression align with what examiners expect.

How We Work

Two routes into DELE preparation

Depending on your starting point, we combine structured language work with intensive speaking practice.

ELE — Spanish as a Foreign Language

The structured grammatical and linguistic foundation for DELE preparation. Building the level from the ground up — grammar, vocabulary, written expression, and reading comprehension aligned to your target DELE level.

Conversational Spanish

The oral expression and interaction sections of the DELE are often where candidates fail. Intensive speaking practice with a native speaker directly addresses this — accent, fluency, register, and the specific oral tasks the exam requires.

The Process

How DELE preparation works

1

Tell Me Your Level and Exam Date

We run a diagnostic in the first session to assess your current level relative to your target DELE level, and map backwards from your exam date.

2

A Focused Preparation Plan

Every session covers one or more DELE sections: reading comprehension, written expression, listening, oral interaction. Mock tasks, time practice, real exam materials.

3

Arrive on Exam Day Ready

You will have completed multiple mock exams, understood the scoring criteria, and practised the oral interaction section with a native speaker more times than you can count.

Spanish Nationality

DELE A2 for Spanish Nationality — what you need to know

If you are applying for Spanish citizenship by residence (10 years), the DELE A2 is a mandatory legal requirement for non-native Spanish speakers. Here is what the exam involves.

  • The DELE A2 must be accompanied by the CCSE exam — the separate test of cultural and constitutional knowledge of Spain required for nationality applications.
  • The exam consists of 4 sections: reading comprehension, written expression and interaction, listening comprehension, and oral interaction.
  • You need a minimum score of 60% overall, with at least 30 points in each section group. Both groups must be passed in the same sitting.
  • Exam dates are limited — typically 4–5 times per year through the Instituto Cervantes. Starting preparation 8–12 weeks before your exam date is strongly recommended.
  • The oral interaction section is assessed live with an examiner. This is the part candidates most frequently underestimate, and the part that benefits most from practising with a native speaker in advance.

If you need to pass the DELE A2 for your citizenship application, private preparation with a native teacher is the fastest and most reliable path. Book a free consultation today.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you prepare for all DELE levels, or just A2?
All levels, A1 through C2. Most students preparing for citizenship need A2. University applicants typically target B2 or C1. C2 is for those who want to demonstrate near-native mastery. We assess your current level in the first session and build from there.
How many lessons do I need to prepare for the DELE?
It depends on your current level versus your target level. If you are already at A1 and need A2, 8–12 focused sessions are typically enough. For B2 from B1, 15–20 sessions. We design a plan in your first consultation, once we have assessed where you are.
Can you help me prepare for the CCSE exam as well as the DELE A2?
The CCSE tests knowledge of the Spanish Constitution and culture — it is a separate exam to the DELE. While I teach Spanish language (DELE), I can integrate cultural content into our lessons to support your overall citizenship preparation.
Is your Spanish Peninsular (from Spain) or Latin American?
Peninsular — Castilian Spanish from Spain. This is important for the DELE, which uses Spanish-from-Spain in its recordings and written materials. Preparing with a native speaker from Spain gives you direct exposure to the variety of Spanish the exam tests.
Are lessons available around work hours?
Yes. Morning, afternoon, and evening slots are available across European and UK time zones. Weekends are also available. Flexibility around your schedule is a core part of how Rise Language Lab works.
What if I fail my DELE exam? Can we continue preparing for the next sitting?
Absolutely. Many students return after a first attempt to focus on the sections where they lost points. We reassess and target the specific gaps — the DELE score report tells us exactly where to work.
