Do I even need Spanish living in Torrevieja? Everyone speaks English here.
You do not need it to get by — Torrevieja makes that entirely possible, and that is part of why so many British expats choose it. But there is a considerable difference between getting by and genuinely belonging somewhere. Spanish opens up healthcare conversations, local friendships, travel inland, bureaucracy, and a whole dimension of Spanish life that simply does not exist in English. Are lessons available in the mornings?
Yes — mornings are the most popular slots. Sessions are available across a range of morning, afternoon, and early evening times to fit around your daily routine. Do I need a computer, or can I use a tablet or phone?
A tablet works perfectly well and is what most students prefer. A phone screen is usable but smaller and less comfortable for longer sessions. You do not need to install any specialist software — lessons run through a simple video call you will already be familiar with. If you are unsure about the technology, we test everything together before the first session so nothing is left to chance.
I know a bit of Spanish from living here — where do I start?
Exactly where you are. We assess your level in the first session through natural conversation — no written test. If you can already manage basic exchanges in daily life, we build from that foundation and fill the gaps, rather than making you repeat things you already know. Years of living in Spain means something has absorbed, even if it does not feel that way.
What if I spend part of the year back in the UK or travelling?
No problem at all. Because all lessons are online, there is no interruption when you travel. You continue your lessons from wherever you are — the UK in autumn, Torrevieja in winter, somewhere else entirely in between. All you need is a stable internet connection. Many students move between countries and their progress continues without a break.
