About Me

11 years teaching English

Hi! I'm Rebecca — half English, half Spanish, and completely at home in both languages. I grew up between Spain and the UK, with family on both sides, which means English isn't just a language I teach — it's a part of who I am.

I've spent over eleven years dedicated to private tuition, alongside working in various language academies. I've taught children, teenagers, adults and corporate clients — very different profiles, with very different starting points. And that's exactly what I love most about this work: everyone learns differently, and finding the approach that makes English click for each person is a challenge that never gets old.

My International Business degree was taught entirely in English, which helped me formalise and structure my knowledge of the language, especially in professional contexts. I've also completed specific training courses for teachers and facilitators, where I worked with different methodologies: dynamic activities, games, active practice — ways of teaching that move well beyond the textbook-and-exercises model, which I apply every day in both private lessons and my work with academy groups.

Diverse Profiles

Who I've worked with

Over the years I've taught a very wide range of students — each with their own starting point, their own goals, and their own way of learning.

01

Children

In-person lessons with a completely different approach to the classroom: games, visual activities, tasks matched to the child's development at each stage. The goal isn't vocabulary memorisation — it's making English feel natural from the start.

02

Teenagers

School support, grammar, exam preparation, speaking, use of English. I also work through their own interests — because learning something you find completely irrelevant is so much harder, and at that age it matters especially.

03

Adults

From scratch, in pairs, one-to-one, focused on grammar or conversation. Many arrive convinced they're "just bad at English" after years of trying. In almost every case, the problem was the method — not them.

04

Professionals & companies

Business English tailored to the student's real needs: presentations, meetings, emails, sector vocabulary. Content always starts from their specific work context — never a generic manual.

05

Certifications

Preparation for Cambridge (B1, B2, C1), IELTS, Trinity, and official school and university exams. I know each test format inside out — which matters just as much as your level of English.

06

Academies & groups

I've worked in several language academies teaching group classes at all levels. That experience gave me the tools to manage group dynamics, encourage active participation, and adapt the learning pace to collective needs without losing individual focus.

The Heart of the Method

What these years have taught me most

Every student is different — and not just in their level of English. Also in what interests them, how they absorb information, how they react when something doesn't click, whether they prefer to talk a lot or need more time before opening up, whether they learn better through visual examples or structured explanations.

Over time I've learned to read that in class and adjust on the fly: if an exercise hasn't worked, it's worth understanding why before moving on. Stepping off the script when needed isn't improvising — it's part of the job.

It's what has changed my teaching the most since the beginning, and what I believe makes the real difference between someone making progress or getting stuck.
